Common Concerns
-
That’s okay. Hair results are a combination of communication, chemistry, and intuition, which means sometimes something is just a little off. Maybe there was a miscommunication, maybe something chemically didn’t happen the way we expected, and sometimes a stylist simply makes the wrong call.
Fortunately, because of the level of knowledge and intention that goes into the decisions we make at Wildflower, dissatisfaction is usually something we can address and correct.
And this is where the trauma-informed part of what we do really matters. We understand that looking at someone who just worked really hard on your hair and saying, “I don’t like this,” can be incredibly uncomfortable. But we’re in this industry knowing that sometimes a client is going to look at us and say, “I really don’t like this. Can we change it?” “I don’t think it’s pretty.” “I don’t like the tone against my skin.” “I don’t like the way it’s moving.” “It just doesn’t feel like me.”
Those are all things we hope not to hear, but we’re prepared to hear them, and we’re willing to correct them.
There’s probably no way around that first conversation feeling a little uncomfortable. But once you experience how open and receptive the stylists at Wildflower are to respectful, critical feedback, our hope is that it becomes markedly easier to speak your mind in the future.
Stylists don’t improve their technical skills—or their soft skills—without occasionally having those skills tested. So if there’s an area where you genuinely feel we could have done better, we want to know. We value that feedback, and those clients often become some of our most valuable product and service testers.

What’s the fastest way to get in touch with my stylist if there’s a problem?
Text message is usually the fastest way to reach your stylist, and it has the added benefit of keeping the conversation in writing so you can refer back to it later. Phone calls, however, are much more personal.
A good rule of thumb: if you need something logistical, shoot us a text. If you’re having an emotional moment, call.

Wildflower does not issue refunds or partial refunds for in-salon hair services. The reason is simple: regardless of whether you’re satisfied with the final result, the appointment time has been provided, the service has been performed, and the professional products used during that service cannot be recovered or refunded.
If you’re unhappy with your results, please reach out to your stylist directly. As explained above, we’re happy to discuss what isn’t working and, when appropriate, offer corrective services.

We get it—stuff comes up. You forget, the weather is beautiful and you want to go to the beach, someone asks you out to dinner, or you get invited to a last-minute concert. We don’t want to rain on your parade.
If you need to reschedule, we simply ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your appointment will be assessed 50% of the service booked. No-call, no-shows on the day of the appointment will be assessed 100% of the service booked.
Cancellation fees are immediately waived in the event of a medical emergency, car accident, or act of nature.

Item descriptThis is the thing we never want to happen, and when it does, it’s destabilizing. Discussing schedules and money becomes too great a tax in those moments. If you’re dealing with a medical emergency, car accident, or similar emergent circumstance, Wildflower is here to support you.
If you happen to remember to let us know you aren’t coming—even if it’s five minutes before your appointment—there will be no cancellation fee.
If, in the chaos of the emergency, you forget to call and are automatically assessed a no-call, no-show fee, do not panic. Reach out to one of the stylists when you’re able and let us know there was an emergent circumstance. We’ll take care of it from there.
If you need the charge refunded, absolutely. You’ll see that refund within seven business days. If you’re amenable, we prefer to keep it as a credit toward your next service instead. That allows us to avoid unnecessary credit-card and banking transaction fees—because your emergency shouldn’t benefit a third party.
And there is absolutely no time constraint on this. If you get into a car accident on your way to the salon and don’t even think to call us for a week, when you finally do, the same policy still applies.ion

Just as we get it with you, we hope you get it with us. Whether we slept late or got stuck behind a bus, sometimes things happen.
That said, your time is just as valuable as ours. If we’re ever late in a way that has an impact on your day, please let us know. Whether that means comping your service, offering complimentary product, or upgrading your experience, we want to make sure we’re honoring the time you set aside for us.
In the event of a medical emergency, car accident, or act of nature, the same grace we extend to our clients is extended to our stylists. If your appointment has to be rescheduled because of it, though, chances are we’re still going to have something special waiting for you when we finally get to see you.

Yes! Consultations are completely free and can happen in person, over the phone, or through text—whatever makes the most sense for you.
Just reach out directly to the stylist you’d like to consult with, and we’ll get the conversation started.

This is actually pretty easy to figure out.
Wildflower tends to be a great fit for people who care about what goes in and on their bodies, think about the impact they leave behind, and want their hair to feel like an elevated version of themselves. You probably want to look natural—even when what we’re doing technically isn’t—and you care just as much about being seen, heard, and understood as you do about the final result.
Artistically, we’re especially well suited for blondes who don’t want to rely on bleach and aren’t afraid of warmth; global bleach clients who need the health of their hair to be the number-one priority; clients transitioning out of blonde or out of color altogether; gray coverage; balayage; pastels and fantasy shades; gender-affirming haircuts; hair loss; and major transformations.
Wildflower is also a particularly good home for people who have had traumatic salon experiences. We will listen to your fears and take them seriously, but we also won’t allow fear to run the appointment. Part of our job is knowing when to slow down and hold space for you and when to confidently guide you through the process.
Our best relationships tend to happen with clients who are curious and engaged. They remember what we teach them, follow the practices and product recommendations we make, and tell us clearly and respectfully when something isn’t working. They’re willing to participate in the process rather than looking for a magic potion or quick fix.
And, frankly, they tend to like bougie things without having bougie personalities. They’re willing to invest in their hair because quality, expertise, ingredients, experience, and results matter more to their decision than finding the lowest price.
On the other hand, if you’re primarily looking for high-contrast, high-impact blonde, shopping based on price, or looking for an instant fix without the maintenance or process that comes with it, Wildflower probably isn’t where you’ll be happiest—and that’s okay. There are incredible stylists who specialize in exactly those things.
The right fit for Wildflower isn’t about having a particular kind of hair. It’s about wanting to approach your hair the way we do.

Wildflower specializes in blondes that feel natural, dimensional, and intentional. We especially love lived-in blondes, balayage, mushroom blondes, and warm dimensional blondes, as well as global lightening when maintaining the integrity of the hair is the priority.
If your idea of the perfect blonde has softness, movement, depth, or looks like it could somehow have grown out of your head that way, you’re in the right place.

For first-time clients, the answer is a resounding no. One of the most important things I need in order to do my job properly is to see your hair in its natural state—not freshly washed, styled, or otherwise manipulated before I’ve had the chance to assess it.
There’s also a very structured onboarding process built into your first appointment. This includes a deep clarifying treatment followed by a deep conditioning treatment, so I can start with a clean canvas and make sure the hair is properly prepared before we move into any chemical services.
For returning clients, it depends. Occasionally, I’ll have a client I trust to clarify properly do that at home before their appointment so we can save some time and focus more of our resources on achieving the goal. This is usually reserved for clients with extremely long or thick hair, where washing, clarifying, and drying can take a significant portion of the appointment.
If I want you to arrive with your hair already washed, I’ll tell you. Otherwise, come as you are.

That’s different for everyone. Blue and violet shampoos can be really useful in some situations, but they can also work against your tonal maintenance and leave the hair looking drab, dull, or dingy when they aren’t the right choice for your blonde.
If you’re concerned about maintaining your blonde between appointments, Wildflower offers an array of products designed to do exactly that. Ask your stylist what makes sense for your specific color rather than automatically reaching for blue or violet.

Sometimes Wildflower really likes to go against the grain—mostly because we understand fear. Trying new products and spending money on something you’ve never used before can be intimidating, so we try to take that fear out of the equation.
If, after two uses at home, you don’t like a product—whether it’s the smell, the consistency, the way it makes your hair feel, or anything else—bring it back and we’ll trade it out for something else. We’ll continue doing that with you until we find a product you actually like.
There’s no point in spending money you’re not satisfied spending.
